What your report measures
Foundations: can AI find you at all
Foundations and Your website measure the same family of thing — whether a machine can reach you — but they ask different questions. Your website checks whether a machine can read you once it arrives. Foundations checks whether it arrives at all.
What we already check on every scan
Every scan downloads your sitemap to discover your pages, and it is the same file an AI crawler would use to find you in the first place.
What we say we don't measure yet, instead of guessing
Three things belong here and are not scored yet: whether your sitemap is not just present but valid, whether Google actually has you indexed, and how many of your pages are indexed with when the crawler last visited. That last one only Google knows, and it only tells the site owner — which is why it needs your permission, through Google Search Console, rather than being something we can read from outside.
Being indexed is not classic SEO housekeeping here — Google's and Gemini's own answers are built on that index. If a page of yours is not in it, there is nothing for either of them to cite, however good the page is.
Search Console connects to your plan, read-only
This is the one connection in the product that asks for a credential of yours rather than just reading what's public — which is exactly why it comes with the paid plan and not the free scan. It publishes nothing and changes nothing on your site; it only reads your own indexing data, and you can revoke it from your Google account whenever you like. As of this writing that connection is still being built and is not live yet.
